He explains how purification of the heart is an obligation and a key part of authentic Islam. Shaykh Abu Aaliyah shows how taṣawwuf was a key feature of the lives of classical Athariyyah and Ḥanābilah, including Ibn Taymiyyah. He cites the classical tradition to distinguish between blameworthy (or deviated) taṣawwuf and praiseworthy taṣawwuf.
