Israel is moving ahead with plans to build more than 1,200 settler housing units in the E1 area, east of occupied Jerusalem, threatening around 5,000 Palestinians in Bedouin and herding communities with ethnic cleansing.
The new colony would isolate the northern and southern parts of the occupied West Bank from each other.
We speak with Zena Al Tahhan, a freelance journalist based in the occupied West Bank, about Israelβs plans, the demolitions and displacement facing Palestinian communities and escalating state-backed settler violence and terror. We also discuss Western governmentsβ narrowly targeted measures against settlements while they maintain support for Israel, and the stories missing from mainstream coverage of the West Bank.
